Mark it Read is the official Canadian celebration for Dyslexia Awareness Month!
What is dyslexia?
- Unexpected difficulty in learning to read, write and spell
- Lifelong neurologically based learning disability
- Often hereditary
- With early identification and proper reading support, children can learn to read, write and spell
Each year across Canada, monuments and buildings are lit up red, schools and workplaces wear red, and cities and towns sign proclamations to officially declare the month of October as Dyslexia Awareness Month. At Westmount, for the next month, your child/children will be learning more about Dyslexia and participating in discussions and activities to celebrate learning differences!
