For those students returning – welcome back! To our new families joining us for the first time, welcome to the neighbourhood!

We are excited to begin another amazing school year with you on Wednesday, September 3rd at 9:00am. 

Below you will find information to help you prepare for the first day of school. Please note that Tuesday, September 2nd is a Professional Development Day, and there is no school for students on this day.

Where do we meet teachers on Wednesday?

Kindergarten Students

Families should have received an email including the Welcome to School Presentation. Please bring your child on Wednesday morning to the kindergarten fenced area at the front of the school to meet the classroom educators. They will be lined up in the map locations shared with you. Please ensure you take your child directly to one of their classroom educators for a hand-to-hand transition. 

There will be extra staff in orange/yellow vests who may assist you in finding your child’s class.

Grade 1-6 Students – First day ONLY

All classes will be lined up along the back of the school tarmac from Grades 1-6. Classroom teachers will stand with their class sign and we ask for classes to line up with their teachers facing the school for entry. This location may not be your child’s regular drop-off or pick-up location. Please confirm the pick-up and future drop-off location with your child’s teacher.

We will have staff with orange/yellow vests who will be able to assist students or families to find teachers as needed.

No Parking Lot Access

Thank you for helping to keep students safe as they walk to and from school and access the school property. In this regard, please do not enter the parking lot during the transition times unless you hold an ACCESSIBLE parking permit for school entry and exit. Thank you for respecting the sign and cone blocking entry before and after school. We are still looking for a qualified parking attendant to help support safe entry/exit from 8:30-9:00 am and 3:00-3:30 pm each day. Please email wsm@wrdsb.ca if you are interested.

Who will be my child’s teacher?

Class assignments and teachers will be shared via School Day on Tuesday, September 2nd. 

Please save the date!

We will host a “Meet the Team” evening on Wednesday, September 10th from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm.  This will be an opportunity for your child(ren) to introduce you to their learning space and teacher(s).
